We love making your animal look fancy, fresh and fetching, but ultimately we put animal welfare first. We pledge to never push your animal past its limits, provide you with services that put your pet's comfort first, and to always always lead with kindness.
As lovers of animals, we pledge to care for our environmental footprint and the future of all animals. We are a 100% Vegan salon, acknowledging that good quality care in grooming doesn't need to harm other animals in the process. We use 100% rainwater and have a Hydrobath recycling system to reduce our water usage. All dog waste bags on premises are compostable.
We pride ourselves on being innovators and game changers in grooming. We deeply respect traditional grooming, but we are always looking to approach grooming with a modern eye.
We only use premium products and equipment in our studio to ensure we provide your pet with the best quality of care. You can read more about that in our product & equipment section.
Although sometimes our clients bite - we don't! We lead this business with an open heart and open mind, so please feel free to ask us any questions - there's no need to ever feel ashamed or embarrassed! We are here to help.
We believe it's for the benefit of both you and your pet that we help you understand how to properly groom and car for your pet at home. We provide a "Grooming Report" after each groom to help communicate how your animal is travelling and what we think will help you. We want to make sure you feel confident and are not overwhelmed!
Our main focus is your pet! This is why we only schedule a limited number of animals at a time. This helps ensure we are never overwhelmed or stress your pet out.
We're located in a Private Studio setting, away from walk-ins and unpredictable situations. We also only allow cats or dogs in the studio at the one time, unless they are "siblings." This provides a more relaxing experience for your animal.
Now all that is said - we LOVE seeing you in our studio. We have a boutique range of products for you to browse through and we encourage you to take photos and share with us on social media :-)

We are located in an inner west suburb of Melbourne called Yarraville. We are set in a quiet, off street studio and provide a comfortable space for animals. We are close to plenty of parking, public transport (both bus & train), and we're about 400 metres from the iconic Sun Theatre and cafes.
There is plenty do see and do while you wait for your pet to be groomed!
Exact location is provided upon booking.
All our in-salon products are premium quality, vegan and have not been tested on animals.
We have treatments to offer any skin and coat type; sensitive/reactive skin, shedding coats, dry coats, curly hair. You name it - we've got you!
Additionally, our studio is fitted with the highest quality equipment like our Hydrobath system (which not only washes thicker coats more thoroughly, but is a water saver to help minimise our environmental footprint), our electric lift grooming tables (which avoid jolting and scaring your pet) to scissors and brush brands like Kenchii (the finest quality grooming tools.)
Our customer's safety and health is of the utmost priority, which is why we go above and beyond the standard industry practices. While we do like to keep our studio as chemical-free as possible, it's our duty to prevent cross contamination between clients and a safe environment for all.
We use H-42 Virucidal Anti-Bacterial cleaner, an agent that deactivates and destroys viruses such as HIV-1 (the AIDS virus) and Covid-19. It also lubricates, preventing our blades from rust.
We use a Digital Far-Infrared Medical Grade Autoclave that uses high temperatures to thoroughly kill a variety of bacteria and viruses.
From 19 October 2020, home-based grooming salons are permitted to re-open provided they operate with a Covid-Safe Plan.
Please observe the following protocols in place before attending your appointment with us.

Remember, be more like your cat! - Clean yourself frequently and practice social distancing!
The connection I feel to animals is like nothing else in life. I really couldn’t have got to where I am, and the happiness I have, without animals. That gratitude towards animals is what drives my business, Uncanny Animals.
I am a trained groomer through one of the leading Australian Dog Grooming Schools, Dog Diversity. I also began my career working there and was mentored by industry leader Nat West and competition winning groomer Taylan Bradley.
I am a Certified Creative Grooming Specialist with Internationally renowned brand, Opawz, and have had my creative grooms featured in top publications like ifashion.pet 2020.
Dogs, cats, and all animals large and small, have been a deep passion of mine since I was a child. I grew up in rural Victoria and was surrounded by working dogs, and my love for animals blossomed from there. I have extensive experience with a broad rage of domestic animals - from cats and dogs, to bunnies, rats, house pigs and ferrets!
Throughout my life I’ve always pursued improving the welfare of animals and encouraging human connection with animals. I was a vegetarian at eight years of age, and became vegan when I was an adult. This is why my salon only uses vegan and cruelty-free products as I do not believe that grooming animals should come at the cost of other animals.
I'm also a cat foster carer and have been working with animals most of my life - whether it be in veterinary clinics, shelters, and on farms.
I respect the "rules" of traditional grooming, but my flair and passion is for creative grooming. I try to see each unique pet through the eyes of their beloved owner, accentuate their features and do what works best for the animal.
My aspirations are to educate people on the benefits of grooming and help further the connection between humans and animals.
In my "other life" I work online, have a decent following on social media (@uncannyannieblog), a successful podcast called We Want To Be Better. I'm also a wife, and mother of three humans and six animals!
