Directions:

Use the brush in the direction of the hair growth. You'll notice the brush has "L" shaped pins; these hook on to the knots! Therefore, you should only brush in a downwards motion (towards the handle) rather than side-to-side or up. Make sure the pins are penetrating deep into the coat, brushing the undercoat and hair near the skin. If the hair is too dense, part the hair so you can see the skin and brush right down near the base. Do not apply too much pressure to avoid irritating the skin. 

 

Bonus Tips

Short, frequent strokes are best.

Your attitude is important! Remaining calm, serious, and in control will result in a positive outcome.

Frequent brushing can be the difference between a pet that likes brushing or sees brushing as a part of life vs a pet that dislikes it.

Give your pet a treat and praise after brushing so they want to be brushed again.

Brush your pet after swimming or getting wet as water tightens knots!

What is catnip?
Catnip, Nepeta cataria, is a member of the mint family of herbs. For centuries, humans have grown catnip for humans, but the herb is best known for its action on cats. The chemical in catnip called nepetalactone is what cats respond to. However, not all cats react to catnip. Kittens will not show the behaviour until they are at least 6-8 weeks old.
